Newton appears to be friendly with this person, since they’ve were chatting while Sadie looked for Lars in the crowd.

But after Gunga tells her joke, we see both Newton and mustache guy with the hat (who wasn’t in the back shot either).

They probably arrived between shots. And seeing as they arrived together, and have the same hair color, I’m inclined to believe this is Newton’s father.
