Giovan Battista Moroni (1522-1578) was an Italian painter trained under “il Moretto”. He’s known because of his “portraits in action” in which he painted people at work, representing the importance of humble workers in the society. His works are characterized by the intense expressivity of his subjects and by a great attention to detail.
If you’ve seen his paintings at the National Gallery you’ve probably had the opportunity to admire “The Tailor” (1570).
